Our main sponsor, Rent Like a Champion, will be making an appearance on the ABC show “Shark Tank” Friday night at 9pm ET.
Mike Doyle, the CEO of Rent Like a Champion, has been a loyal supporter of Maize and Go Blue for the past four years despite being a Notre Dame graduate. As you’re aware by now, Rent Like a Champion is a vacation rental website that provides college football fans across the country — including those in Ann Arbor — with high quality, affordable housing during football weekends. Think Airbnb, but focused specifically on college towns like Ann Arbor.
“Many college towns lack the infrastructure to support the tens of thousands of football fans who flock to town on game weekends,” Doyle said. “We’re all college football fans so we had experienced first hand the difficulty in finding lodging in these situations. Rent Like A Champion gives traveling fans the option to stay in a home close to campus, and keep their friends and family under one roof.”
Right now, there are 20 homes available for the Rutgers game ranging from $500 for the weekend up to $5,000, and as close as two blocks from the Big House. There are 23 available for the Ohio State game, as well as winter commencement, several basketball games, and spring commencement.
Mike declined to divulge the outcome of the Shark Tank appearance, but did say that it was an awesome experience. He and his partner Drew Mitchell asked for $200,000 for a 10 percent stake in the company.
“We tangled with Cuban and we tangled with a couple of the other sharks, and guarantee it’ll make for some terrific television,” Doyle said of the experience.
Make sure to tune in to ABC at 9pm ET/8pm CT to watch Mike and Drew try to win a big investment from Mark Cuban or one of the other sharks. You can also enter their Shark Tank giveaway in which you can win four tickets to a 2016 game, a house rental within walking distance to the stadium, and a fully stocked fridge.
